BEST MOBILE PHONES UNDER 15000 IN INDIA

The best phone under 15000 can easily give the high-enders tough competition. Boasting of high-resolution multi-camera setups, powerful processors, HDR capabilities and more, mobiles under Rs 15,000 can give flagship smartphones a run for their money because of the phone experience they offer. Smartphones in 2020 don't just cover the basics, it also offers features like in-display fingerprint sensors, gaming processors, high refresh rate display, internal cooling, multi-camera setups, glass-based designs and much, much more. Most smartphones sold in this segment are made by brands like Xiaomi, Realme, Samsung, Nokia and more, but after a GST rate hike on the sale of mobile phones, we have had to rearrange the rankings a bit. Top phones under 15,000 segment offer a good balance between powerful hardware and useful features. Check out this list if you are looking for the best mobile under 15000.

The under Rs.15,000 price point is crucial to the Indian smartphone industry since it is accessible to a lot of people. Over the years we have seen multiple manufacturers attempting to capture this segment by offering better cameras, faster processors, and better batteries. In order to be the best in this segment, manufacturers have flooded the sub-Rs. 15,000 price segment with a range of good smartphones.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 which was earlier exclusive to smartphones above Rs. 20,000 is now available under Rs. 15,000. You can also find mightier processors like the Qualcomm Snapdragon 675, and MediaTek Helio P70 at this price point, giving users powerful hardware at a bargain price.

Good camera technology has also trickled down to the sub Rs. 15,000 segment over the years giving people the option to capture good photos without paying a bomb for flagship devices. Some of the recent smartphones we have seen in this price point pack in as much as a 48-megapixel sensor. With so many options in the market, picking up a smartphone isn’t easy. But we’ve put together a list of the best phones under Rs. 15,000 for you. As usual, we've restricted ourselves to phones that have fared well in our review process.

1. Real Me 7

The Realme 7 brings in three main upgrades over the Realme 6 — a new SoC, a bigger battery, and a new primary camera sensor. It features a mirror-split design, which creates some interesting patterns when light hits it. The Realme 7 is actually thicker (9.4mm) and heavier (196.5g) than the 6, due to its larger battery, and this is very noticeable in daily usage.
The Realme 7 is the first phone to debut with the MediaTek Helio G95 SoC. This is an updated version of the Helio G90T, which was seen in the Realme 6, but it's not a major upgrade. Performance is pretty satisfactory. The Realme 7 uses Realme UI, based on Android 10, which worked smoothly. Face recognition and the side-mounted fingerprint sensor are also quick. The Realme 7 is good with games too. Battle Prime looked great at the highest graphics settings and gameplay was smooth.
The Realme 7 gets a chunky, 5,000mAh battery and you can charge the battery fairly quickly too, thanks to the 30W Dart Charge fast charging.
The new primary rear camera in the Realme 7 offers a noticeable improvement in pixel-binned images, comapred to the Realme 6. It exhibits improved dynamic range and exposure, with better details too. Low light photos look cleaner too, with less grain. Shots captured using Night mode look more pleasing, compared to what the Realme 6 can produce. The Realme 7 can shoot videos at up to 4K, but without stabilisation. Colours are a bit on the warmer side.
side.
With a MediaTek Helio G95 SoC under the hood, and a 64MP quad camera setup combined with a 90Hz display and a large 5,000mAh battery with 30W fast charge, the Realme 7 quickly propels to the top, offering excellent value for money, and a smartphone that's capable of handling the daily tasks, gaming and photography. This is indeed one of the best smartphones to buy under Rs 15,000.

2. Poco M2 Pro

The Poco M2 Pro has an attractive design and is built well, but it also looks very similar to the Redmi Note 9 Pro. It features a P2i water-repellent coating, which is said to make it splash-proof. Poco has used a 6.67-inch full-HD+ LCD display, with a cutout for the selfie camera. You also get Gorilla Glass 5 on the front, back, and the rear camera module. One feature that's missing is a high refresh rate.
The Poco M2 Pro runs on MIUI 11, which is based on Android 10, and my unit had the June security patch. Apart from having the Poco Launcher as a default, the features and functionality are very similar to what you get on Redmi devices.
MIUI and app performance were superb thanks to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G SoC. Navigating through MIUI's interface felt snappy, multitasking worked well, and apps in general were quick to load. Gaming performance was very good too. The 5,000mAh capacity easily lasted for an entire day, even with lots of gaming and camera usage.
The Poco M2 Pro has four rear cameras, which include a primary 48-megapixel sensor, an 8-megapixel sensor with a wide-angle lens, a 5-megapixel macro camera, and a 2-megapixel depth camera. You get a 16-megapixel hole-punch selfie camera. Overall, the cameras of the Poco M2 Pro performed decently under good light, but struggled to deliver satisfactory results in low light.
The Poco M2 Pro is essentially the Redmi Note 9 Pro wrapped in a dual-tone body, with slightly faster charging at 33W. This one is also powered by the Snapdragon 720G and offers 4GB RAM with 64GB storage under Rs 15,000. What it does differently from other Xiaomi smartphones is that there's the option to get an app drawer in the UI along with a lot more customisations thanks to the POCO launcher. As for the cameras, you get a 48MP quad shooter at the back, and a 16MP selfie shooter on the front.

 3. Redmi Note 9 Pro

The Redmi Note 9 Pro has a lower starting price than its predecessors, but also doesn't offer all the modern features that you might expect. It has a 6.67-inch LCD screen with a 60Hz refresh rate and hole-punch front camera at the top. The processor is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G which is surprisingly powerful for this segment. You also get a 5020mAh battery and suppport for 18W fast charging.
The Redmi Note 9 Pro is powerful and everyday work will go smoothly. The display is large and crisp, making games and movies look good. You have a choice between variants, one with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, and the other with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.
The 48-megapixel primary camera was slightly disappointing overall, particularly in low light. There's also an 8-megapixel wide-angle camera, a 5-megapixel macro camera, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. On the front you get a 16-megapixel selfie camera.
The Snapdragon 720G features once again on the Redmi Note 9 Pro, and this one's a thorough performer under Rs 15,000 with a 48MP quad camera setup and a large 5,000mAh battery. Yes, the specs sound quite similar to the top ranked device, and you won't really lose out on much if you get the Note 9 Pro instead of the Poco M2 Pro. Save for the faster charging and the larger primary camera.

4. Realme Narzo 10

The Realme Narzo 10 is a low-cost phone that claims to offer a great experience for young gamers thanks to the MediaTek Helio G80 SoC. It has an interesting look with subtle stripes down the back that appear to shift as you turn the phone under the light. It feels well built but is a little heavy thanks to the 5000mAh battery. The 6.5-inch display is quite good and the HD resolution won't stress the processor too much, but some might prefer a crisper full-HD panel at this price. There are no variants, so you can only get this phone with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage in India. Gaming performance is quite good, though we did feel the upper rear get a bit warm while playing heavy games. Battery life is excellent and you can get well over a day of usage out of each charge. The cameras are largely average, with the primary one doing well in the daytime but the wide-angle and macro cameras feeling a little sub-par. Low light photography isn't great, and video is also limited in quality.
The Realme Narzo 10 is meant for gaming and performance-heavy tasks. With the MediaTek Helio G90 under the hood, it delivers maxed out frame rates in games like Call of Duty: Mobile, although at lower graphics. The camera at the back of the phone includes a 48MP quad camera shooter with lots of options while the 5,000mAh battery easily delivers over a day's battery life.

5. Redmi Note 9

The Redmi Note 9 is an entry-level offering from Xiaomi in the Note 9 series. It shares the same design as the Redmi Note 9 Pro and the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max. It sports a 6.53-inch display with a hole-punch on the top left corner. There is Corning Gorilla Glass 5 to protect the display. The display has good viewing angles but the notch could be distracting to a few people.
The Redmi Note 9 Is powered by a MediaTek Helio G85 SoC. The Redmi Note 9 is available in three variants; 4GB of RAM with 64GB of storage, 4GB of RAM with 128GB of storage, and 6GB of RAM with 128GB of storage. Storage can be expanded further using a microSD card slot. The Redmi Note 9 houses a 5,020mAh battery and gets a 22.5W charger in the box.

The Redmi Note 9 has a quad-camera setup consisting of a 48-megapixel primary camera, 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, 2-megapixel macro camera and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. The Redmi Note 9 manages good photos in daylight and the AI is quick to detect scenes. Lowlight camera performance was average and the Night mode did not make a huge difference in the output.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 with the MediaTek Helio G85 under the hood does perform decently well for the price. The chipset is tuned for gaming but everyday tasks like reading articles, browsing social media, watching videos and the likes happen quite effortlessly. The phone's camera is also decent and at par with most other offerings in this segment with the 48MP quad camera stack at the back. However, it's the phone's battery lfie with a 5020mAh battery and 18W fast charging that makes this a reliable smartphone to use.

6. Realme 6i

Realme 6i
Realme 6i

The Realme 6i is a budget smartphone from Realme and is a toned-down version of the Realme 6. This smartphone sports some interesting hardware such as the 90Hz display which isn't available from the competition. The Realme 6 sports a 6.5-inch display and has a hole-punch design to accommodate the selfie camera.
Powering the Realme 6i is a MediaTek Helio G90T SoC which is paired with either 4GB or 6GB of RAM. The storage between both variants remains the same at 64GB. The Realme 6i has a quad-camera setup at the back with a 48-megapixel primary camera, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, a 2-megapixel macro camera and a 2-megapixel depth sensor.
The phone runs Realme UI on top of Android 10. There is some amount of bloatware that comes preinstalled on the device and we did encounter some spammy notifications. The camera performance from the Realme 6i was good in daylight using the primary camera. Its wide-angle camera offered decent details. Lowlight camera performance wasn't as good as we saw a noticeable dip in performance.
The Realme 6i packs in a 4,300mAh battery which offers all-day battery life. It is also bundled with a 20W charger for quick charging.
The Realme 6i is one of the most affordable smartphones to come with a 90Hz display, and combined with a MediaTek Helio G90T and a 48MP quad camera stack, the Realme 6i offers an excellent price to performance ratio in the mid-range segment.

11.Motorola Moto G9

Motorola's G-series has long been the backbone of its lineup and India is the first country to get the latest Moto G9. For what it offers, we feel Motorola has launched it at a fairly competitive price. One of the staple features continues to be the lean version of Android, which Motorola now calls MyUX. It's mostly stock Android, with a few classic Moto customisations thrown in for good measure.
The Moto G9 is built well, but it feels a little big and bulky. It's one of the few phones that still has a dedicated Google Assistant button, which is a nice touch. It's also the first phone in India to feature the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 SoC, which does a decent job of keeping things running smoothly. Other than it taking slightly longer than usual to load heavy games, overall performance was good. Battery life was also more than satisfactory.
Camera quality was quite decent during the day. Landscapes and close-ups were generally detailed and had good colour saturation. Low-light photography is where the Moto G9 struggled quite a bit, although Night mode did help in a big way. Overall, the Motorola Moto G9 is a decent phone if you're looking for a lean Android experience and don't mind compromising a bit on processing power.

It also has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.

Realme has also packed in a 4,300mAh battery which offers very good battery life and bundled a 30W charger with the smartphone.

Photos clicked from the Realme 6 were good and the camera had good dynamic range. Photos from the wide-angle camera had slight barrel distortion at the edges. Lowlight camera performance takes a dip but it still manages good shots. The Night mode improves low light performance further.
